𑁦𑁦CUMBERLAND ISLAND𑁦𑁦
"He is clearly revealed in the things
He has made." Romans 1:20
His hand is in every detail.
To celebrate our 15th Anniversary
Brandon and I got to go on a 2 night
adventure to Cumberland Island.
At 4am we packed up and drove to
St. Marys, Ga to catch the Ferry to
Cumberland Island.
our bikes and packs
(you can rent bikes there for $20/day or
bring your own if you pay $10 to put them on
the ferry)
The Ferry Dock
45 min ferry ride
Unloading....
Our campsite was 3.5 miles from
"Sea Camp" where the ferry drops you
off. There was an art to being able
to balance on the bikes with the heavy
packs while riding on the sandy paths!
Brandon was much better than me!
Our Campsite...
Stafford Beach #8
They told us to keep our food hanging...
and warned us about the cleaver raccoons that
would attempt to stand on each other's shoulders
to reach bags and were able to undo zippers!
Thankfully our things stayed safe!
--magical trails--
We made it!!!
The clouds were telling stories
The beach was only a short walk from our
campsite
We got to carry in a small icepack
the first night--so, we had steak, potatoes
and veggies....then, it was mostly
oatmeal, bananas, apples, granola bars
and trail mix. We had "Kung Pao Chicken"
in a bag from REI the 2nd night!
It turned out great! There was water
available--but, it had to be treated....
so, after adding some tablets it was
ready in about 30 min.
We had the beach to ourselves!!
Brandon caught a bunch of fish....
mostly whiting....and one night as he
was pulling one in we watched a little
shark take a bite of his catch and saw the
shark bike on the fish when he reeled it in!
"Be a 'look at the sky', 'look at the sunset',
'look at the moon', 'stay in the car and listen
to the rest of the song' type of person." :)
exploring
We saw the wild horses!!!
In my mind we would be sitting
on the beach and three horses would
be cantering by the water right where
the waves break...and the Rolling Stones
would be singing "Wild Horses" in the
background....
that didn't happen... but, we did get
to see them in this pretty field.
We got to get pretty close to this
little one.
We rode our bikes down the lane
to the Greyfield Inn...it was beautiful....
it had a price tag of $625/night and we
actually liked our $12/night campsite!
After a long bike ride through the trails we
rode out to the beach...we still had a long way
to go to get back to Stafford Beach...but
there was a wind that started blowing
at our backs and literally pushed us back!
It was amazing and one of my favorite
parts of the trip!
"We live in a wonderful world that is full
of beauty, charm and adventure.
There is no end to the adventures we
can have if only we seek them
with our eyes open."

15 years ❤
Thanks to Gran Mum for
taking care of Milla, Faith & Cole
while we were gone!
They had a blast!!!
We passed through Savannah
on our way home and it was only
right to stop and try Paula Deen's
"The Lady and Son's" restaurant!
