I Want to Go Back to College!!!!

Despite the comeback that the Bulldogs made in the 2nd half--it wasn't enough! Alabama headed back to Tuscaloosa with a victory. Even though everyone was sad after the game--we had a great time before. Everyone was dressed in black for the "BLACKOUT". Brandon and I got in to town and ate at one of my old favorites "East West Bistro" right downtown on Broad Street. Then we went to meet up with Gil and Jaime. (Brandon and Gil work together at Robert's Commercial.)

North Campus was PACKED!!!! There were tents set up on every available inch of grass. There was so much excitement in the air. A bunch of tailgates that had big screen TV's set up--so we got to watch and celebrate as Ole Miss beat Florida and the AUBURN beat Tennessee!

We headed over to Lumpkin and found Kriya and Paula who were tailgating with some more friends behind Meyers dorms. Paula was back to visit from NYC and brought her boyfriend--this was his first SEC football game! He got to experience how it's done down south!!

Here is Brandon standing in front of where they filmed "College Gameday" earlier that morning. It was SO nice to be back in Athens. I miss it!! Brandon and I decided that we want to go back to college!!!!

Here is a picture of Hank from Friday night enjoying the sunset on Lake Lanier!!!! He has fully recovered after his snake bite on Monday-- he is back to himself-- nothing will slow him down!

Copperheads & Car Crashes

Two crazy, random things have happened in the past 24 hours. Last night at dusk I was taking Hank on a walk--he was running around, not on a leash-- he smelled something and jumped away-when I got closer I saw that it was a snake. I didn't think much of it but I had my cell phone with me so I called Brandon to see if he wanted to come look at it--he came and brought a flash light-- when he shined it on the snake it was curled up with his head in striking position- it was a copperhead-then Brandon shined the flashlight on Hank and he had to fang marks on his nose. We jumped in the car and headed to the Emergency Vet. The vet said that copperheads are the least venomous of the poisonous snakes in Ga--but they are one of the most painful. They don't give anti-venom--but he got and IV and some shots (antibiotic, pain meds, steroid, and benadryl). He was really tired, groggy, and swollen-- but he is doing just fine. We are keeping a close eye on him and watching for possible infection. The vet said that infection is of concern because there is so much bacteria in a snake's mouth. For now all is well!!

Today at work there was a freak accident in the parking lot. My friend Susan's car is the smashed Civic in the middle--and it was parked in the parking spot. Two families got in a wreck in the lot and then the driver of the van that got hit accidentally slammed on the GAS rather than the BREAK--it caused the van to jump the curb and land on the back of the Civic and slide down-- the van was in the air! All of the windows shattered in the civic and it was pushed into the Acura of our Physician Assistant Nancy. No one was hurt--but everyone was shaken up. I didn't know it was possible to TOTAL a car in a parking lot. Poor Susan--she had just finished getting her car fixed a couple of months ago from getting rear-ended. Her car was a 2005 and it was paid off!!! It stinks how sometime you get stuck paying the consequences for things when they aren't even your fault!! The good news is--we can buy new cars, but we can't buy new people--so thank goodness everyone is OK!!

GO FISH

Go FISH!!! Congrats to Mark Fischer!!! Allison hosted a great tailgate at the Georgia Tech vs. Miss. State game in Atlanta. Mark got inducted into the Georgia Tech Hall of Fame for baseball. They started the Hall of Fame in the 50's and they only pick a choice few to add to it every year. There are only 450 people in it total--and now Mark is one of them!!! What an honor! Way to go Mark!!!! --and another CONGRATS to the Fischer's---they are EXPECTING a little one!! YAY!!
Mom and Cappie came up to the lake on Saturday afternoon to say Hi and then treated us to dinner at a Japanese Steakhouse. We strategically planned an early dinner so we wouldn't miss any football games!!! Football seems to rule the schedule in the fall!!

Volunteer

Have you ever really wanted to volunteer but then when you try to find a place that needs your help it just seems so difficult?? That seems to be my experience up until now. But, now I have learned that it is so easy. I got on the "Hands On Atlanta" website and this organization plays the role of the middle man between individuals or groups wanting to volunteer and places that need volunteers. They help out 500 places in the Atlanta area that need people. Before you can volunteer you have to go to a 1 hour orientation at their headquarters (it is off of Northside Drive close to IKEA .) Brandon and I went last week and are really excited about all the opportunities that they provide. If you are looking for a place to get plugged in I would definitely recommend Hands on Atlanta-- check out their website-- http://www.handsonatlanta.org/

William Edward Inman

Little Will turned 1 and we got to celebrate with the big guy!!! Sarah and Ed hosted an afternoon of BBQ and FUN. He is so sweet and he is on the move!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY WILL!!!!

Setting Sail

We soaked up the great weather and beautiful weekend on the lake. Mom and Cappie came up-we are so excited because Cappie got his sailboat moved to Lake Lanier from Biloxi, Mississippi. He got it here just in the nick of time before the storms down in the Gulf. Hank loves to sail too!! The most exciting news of the weekend: Elizabeth and Robbie's sweet baby girl was born on the 5th at Northside-- "Harper Sophia"--( I love that name!!!). She was 8#110z. Robbie was one of Brandon's roommates at Auburn-- and Elizabeth was a neighbor (Garden District--Fun Times!). We got to hang out with our friends Adrienne and Derrick (friends from church) on Friday night. They are expecting a baby girl next month. They were good sports and let us take some funny pictures showing off Adrienne's cute belly!!!

Our Dads

We got to see both of our Dads over Labor Day weekend. We drove over to Cartersville to visit with my Dad and Grandma. My Dad lives on a farm and loves to be outside enjoying every square inch of it. He has 2 black labs (that he refers to as "the girl" and "the boy"!!!) that he walks around the land for at least 2 hours every single night after work. They have a great life. Hank was glad to be able to run around in the fields and swim in the pond--he was not intimidated by the cows that were wadding in the water-he just jumped right in--but, he was a little surprised when he couldn't fit through the cat door back at the house.
We celebrated Mr. Crim's Birthday at "Killer Creek". It was a delicious meal. I had bronzed Sea Bass and Brandon had Alexander Style Mahi-Mahi---YUM! We found a really good wine at the restaurant while we were waiting in the lounge-- So, if you are looking for a good, not expensive red wine try --Mark West Pinot Noir-- it is only $10/bottle at the store but really good.
