What a Trip! We got to head out west for
Spring Break 2023!
(Milla-7th grade, Faith-5th, Cole-3rd)
This was the trip itinerary!
This was us when we made it to the gate in
the nick of time at the ATL airport after running
(Home Alone style) through the airport
after the gate was changed last minute.
We had 10 min to get from the end of
the E concourse to the end of D…
It was a close call!
We made it by the skin of our teeth!
Landed in Las Vegas!
We saw the roller coaster around the NY, NY
hotel on our way to the Titanic exhibit.
We stayed at the Paris Hotel….it was
really pretty! Bobby Flay had a
“Bobby Flay’s Burgers” restaurant there
that we ate at the first night.
To our advantage something happened with
our standard room reservation and we got a
penthouse for the same price!!! 🤣
Hoover Dam!!!
(45 min from Las Vegas)
Route 66
We woke up at 5am (which wasn’t too hard with
the 3 hour time change) to see the sunrise over
the Grand Canyon…when we woke up everything
was covered in snow! We had no idea that was
even in the forecast! So, when we went to see the
breathtaking view we knew it was there…we just couldn’t see it!
Then things started to clear up and it was
Beautiful!!!
I’ve always wanted to go to The Grand Canyon.
My parents both went to college in Colorado
and during the summers my Mom would go to
Arizona to work at the Grand Canyon….I’d always
hear stories and was so glad to get to go!!
The snow and ice made for an interesting
hike…we were headed to “Oh Ahh Point” but
couldn’t get there…on the corners where the sun
hadn’t hit there was a layer of ice…they
recommended spikes on your shoes that we
didn’t have. Slippery + Drop off was a
little risky…so, we made it as far as we could
and still saw some amazing views!

The Grand Canyon view from the El Tovar
Hotel
Sun hitting the cliffs….Ahhhh!
Cole and Brandon
Brandon and Faith taking it all in.
Pretty
We stayed at a fun hotel with lots of activities…
It was the night of the championship game
for March Madness so we got to watch that
in the Pub as U Conn took home the trophy…
and we got to play pool and video games.
There was a bowling alley at the hotel!
We also went to a neat IMAX movie
about the Grand Canyon that was also
close to the hotel.
We love the hotel at Zion…it was nestled right
into the landscape of the canyon in the
cute, walkable town of Springdale, Utah.
The drive between the Grand Canyon south rim
to Zion was about 5 hours (we stopped in Page, AZ..
a half way Point for lunch) …we couldn’t believe
HOW pretty the whole drive was….a lot to
look at! When you pull in the East gate of Zion
you are blown away from the views!
The NARROWS hike at Zion
(My favorite part)
We rented our “dry suits”, boots, and sticks from
Zion Adventures the night before our
hike so we could wake up early and
beat the crowds to the park.
The suits were a must b/c they said if you
get wet you could get hypothermia!
But, we laughed b/c we saw other
people in cute sage green Simms waders
and we looked like the Jetsons!
You hike through the water…the pressure is
strong from all of the snow melt.
Me and Coley Boy
To give perspective of how
Grandiose it is….
The 2 red dots you see at the end are
Faith and Brandon between the high,
narrow walls of the canyon!
A huge chicken sandwich after a
long hike!
Cool view
Wow!
-Canyon Overlook Trail-
(It was just Brandon and me on this hike b/c
the kids had reached their hike limit for the day!) :)
Hurricane, UT for ATV ride in the dessert
The kids all said that THIS was their
favorite part of the trip
It was Exciting!!
I was holding on tight!!
Dessert surrounded by mountains
Cole
You could see for miles
Back to Las Vegas to head out bright at early
the next day. This time we stayed at the “Flamingo”
hotel….it was neat that they actually had live
pink flamingos there…but, it was much more
crowded and not as family friendly.
The lights of the Vegas Strip
…this time we ate at “Wahlburgers”
Saw the Bellagio fountains to music
Made it to the Raiders store to get
a hat for Cole
Headed to bed to wake up at 4:45 to catch our
8am flight back home.
It was a great trip!!
Thankful we got to go!
