Although it was a small family party, it was a BIG celebration to CELEBRATE our sweet baby girl and the day she was born. Hard to believe it was 2 years ago!!! We had a birthday brunch with Milla's Grandparents, Great Grandparents, Aunt & Uncle, and a few of her little neighbor girlfriends.
* Sunflowers to Brighten the HAPPY day even more*
The weather forecast called for some showers which we were actually thankful for because it made it a little cloudy and overcast which cooled things off. Our air conditioner went out Friday night and our guest arrived at 10:30 on Saturday morning!!! After having the oven on for several hours to cook breakfast casserole and monkey bread our house was pretty toasty. Thankfully everyone was flexible and understanding about the heat!!!
The week before her birthday Milla would wake up daily and say "Birthday?" and I would say...it is Saturday. Then she would say "Cake?". She was SO excited about the cake....I think that is the thing she was MOST anticipating about her birthday. I will always remember the look on her face when we sang "Happy Birthday To You"...she was soaking it all up and her little face was SO HAPPY and FULL of JOY!!! She is allergic to eggs---so, I tried a couple of recipes to find one that would taste OK without eggs... thanks for my friend Anne who is the Queen of Allergy Recipes gave me this one that turned out SO GOOD for cupcakes....
"Golden Layer Cake" 1 cup unsalted butter, 2 cups sugar, in place of 4 large eggs use 1 cup of unsweetened applesauce, 1 cup milk, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 1/2 cup self rising flour, 1 1/4 cup all purpose flour. Oven 350. In large bowl, med. speed cream butter and sugar until fluffy-about 3 min. Then add applesauce and beat well, Mix the milk and vanilla together. Combine flours and add in two parts alternating with the milk and vanilla mixture-beating well after each addition. For cupcakes line with cupcake papers and bake 20-22 minutes.

swimming and running through the sprinkler
*Wish we could have all of our friends over to celebrate...but we ended up keeping it low key and just had her friends that lived right near by since it was just 2 weeks before our due date!!
